Wow--what an amazing day we had yesterday. I know many of you are dying to see some pics of Jack--well we are dying to show them to you.

We were hoping to have it ready, but there are a few minor glitches that should be worked out soon--but for now--welcome Jackson Ellis Freckleton. Born November 10, 2009--7lbs 7 oz, 20 inches long. Mom and Baby are both doing great and we will all be home on Thursday.

Thanks to everyone for the love and support we have received and continue to receive. We are so blessed!!

Deedra and Michael Married!

I love fall weddings...the crisp air, the gorgeous colors, it's all so romantic! Deedra and Michael were married October 2nd at a family member's home on the edge of town.

A younger sister and two friends were Deedra's bridesmaids and they all looked beautiful!

I love it when the couple sets aside time for a first look! It is a sure way to end up with awesome formals (pictures of the bride and groom) and it gives the couple time before all the chaos to get lost in the moment of seeing each other. This day, it was especially fortunate that the couple chose to see each other early because after the ceremony there was barely enough time for family pictures before the lighting was gone.

Michael had his brothers be his groomsmen. Matthew was the best man and he gave the most sincere and heartfelt toast to his older brother--I was so impressed!

Thanks to Michael's mom, Caryn, for all her help with everything!

A huge thank you to Tamara Lillie who helped us shoot this wedding (I mostly waddled around and tried to keep up!). This is her shot of the bride and it is absolutely my fave!

This shot has Jer's name written all over it! I love the sunset!

Family Pics Freckleton Style

Thanks to everyone for their love and support with this baby. We thought "it" (yes, I still don't know what it is!) might be coming this weekend, so Jer made the previous post when my contractions were 8 minutes apart. Apparently, the little squirt had other plans, cause no kiddo! Who knows when it will decide to arrive? Oh well, that's half the fun.

So here's the rest of the post from our family photo shoot. We decided to do our own school pictures and while we were at it, a few family pics. I just can't believe we forgot to do our own "awkward family photo"!

Baby on Board

Whatever happened to those stupid little yellow signs that were so prevalent in the 90's--thank goodness some trends don't last long. Some things seem to last too long--like this pregnancy.

This is Jeramy back for the second post of the day. We went out a couple of weeks ago and did a Fall Family Photo shoot--Freckelton Photography style (how is that for alliteration?). I would wait to post this, but Shelley has been having some regular contractions, and it may not be long until she is no longer pregnant. So here is a post to my beautiful wife.

When we first found out we were pregnant, we discussed how we weren't going to do "pregnancy" pictures. The closer it has got, the more I wanted her to see how good she looked--and to show off that belly:) I am so excited to be a dad and so excited that I have this special woman to be a parent with. Here's to you love---love you!!

Then we turned the camera over to the girls to take some of the two of us--these are our first together since the wedding.

Erica-Sr. Portrait

Hey everyone, it's Jeramy again--still no baby, but I wanted to do this post since I know Erica so well.
So where do you begin when you have known a person for a long time and you can not believe that you are taking their Sr. pictures. Should I tell funny and embarrassing stories about her---well that would take to long because there are so many.

I have know this family for a long time-but became really good friends with them a little over 10 years ago--they were my second family. So this is one of the moments, where I start to feel a little bit older seeing Erica so grown up--luckily she is still kind of the gangly, giggly girl that I first knew so many years ago, but Erica had grown up into a beautiful young lady who is a lot more responsible that what I remember:) They moved to Utah about 4 years ago and I was so happy that they traveled up to Idaho one weekend so we could do her senior pictures. It was a lot of fun.

Well, on with the session and maybe there will be more to say.

Erica was always so giggly and fun to tease--and this girl could talk a hundred miles an hour--oh wait, I think she still can.

You've seen this family on our blog before, but we were lucky enough to do another family session with them this fall. We are going to miss them SO MUCH! They have headed up to Alaska where Jason is stationed with the Army. I'm not complaining too loudly though because he use to be in Afghanistan!

I am just getting to know Jason and he is a great guy! I have a lot of respect for what he does. I've heard a couple of stories about his time in the Army and it must be the hardest thing in the world to have a loved one serving military. Thank goodness you are back on U.S. soil!

Heather and Jeramy are cousins--oh the mischief those two must have gotten into when they were kids! Can't you see the twinkle in Madi's eyes? She too has a gift for being silly! I love that adorable little squirt! Here is our "Ode to Madi" part of the post.

There was something about the taste of straw that Madi liked...

Heather's Dad, Dustin Lyon, is an amazing artist. Creativity runs deep in their family--check out Heather's photography blog devoted to military families!

Taya: 2010 Senior Rep for Shelley High School

We curly-hair girls have a dilemma, wear it straight or wear it curly. It only works to wear it straight if you have plenty of time to straighten it AND if there is absolutely no humidity in the forecast (you should see my hair when I go to Chicago--it gets bigger and curlier each day)! So why not do a half-session with curly and a half-session with straight? That's the plan for Taya. Our super-cute, spunky Senior-rep for Shelley High School. Check out the curls and watch for the straight!

Did I mention that Taya was up until 2 a.m. the night before her shoot making breakfast for her friends? :)

Nate and Abby Married!!

Nate and Abby first contacted our good friend, Tiffany Rebecca, to shoot their wedding, but because of an emergency, Tiffany was unable to join them for their big day :( Tiffany wished she could have been there to shoot the wedding, but sometimes life happens. Luckily it was the only day that week we were available and Jer and I were happy to jump in for her. You can check out Nate and Abby's awesome engagement sesh on Tiffany's blog--they have the cutest story on how they met. Hugs and luvs to you Tiff!

Much thanks to Nate and Abby and their families for their flexibility and the fun we had. It turned out to be a beautiful day and everything was just perfect! We started out at the beautiful Idaho Falls temple...

The Cozy Tree Fall Line

I love fall! It is one of my favorite times of year. I love the way the air smells-- cooking warm, yummy, food, and watching the leaves change colors.

What better way to kick off fall than with a post of The Cozy Tree's fall line of clothing!

I'm not sure what exactly they call this style of dress, but it looks comfy! You can layer it with any kind of t-shirt and dress it up with a sweater.

The nursery line is oh-so-cute! They have bedding for cribs, toddler, and twin beds that are all coordinating!

Receiving blankets and matching burp cloths--I want one of each :)

Justin and Melissa Married!

From the engagements to the big day, getting to know Justin and Melissa has been such a fun journey! They are such an incredible and happy couple--thank you so much for letting us be a part of your wedding! :)

Justin and Melissa were married August 15th at Rose River Reception Center. Everything was so beautiful! Melissa's sister did a beautiful job on Melissa's hair and put pheasant feathers and pearls in it. Everything had an antique theme and Melissa's mom did all the decorating and made their cake. Melissa's sister and Dad made the yummiest pulled pork (recipe courtesy of Stockman's) and served them on rolls from Texas Roadhouse. The rest of the catering was done by Melissa's step-dad's sisters and nieces--totally amazing food! Melissa's brother-in-law surprised them by doing the entertaining and DJing! He works for A&B productions. It was a perfect day and everything flowed smoothly!

Justin and Melissa chose to see each other ahead of time. It was so nice for them to have that intimate time together without all the stress of the big day!

On the big day, there was a lot of excitement and energy

Justin was cool and relaxed!

The bride was glowing :)

Valerie Grover did the flowers. They had pheasant feathers and wheat in them!

Justin and Melissa got their rings at Ingrams, and according to the bride, "the best place to go--period."

An amazing violinist played before and during the procession

I can honestly say that this was one of the best ceremonies I've ever attended--it was hilarious!

The best man had a surprise ring for Melissa :)

The bridesmaids were sweet and sassy...

and the groomsmen were silly and studly!

The Father and Bride dance was one of the most tender moments of the day. I was hiding behind the camera with tears in my eyes :)

2010 Ririe Senior Rep: Ben

You'd think that since I've lived in Southeast Idaho for more than 10 years that I'd have been to Ririe, but nope--this was a first for me and can I tell you that it was a super cute town! Ben's mom told me that going to High School there was like stepping back into the 50's--next time I'll wear my poodle skirt and loafers (note to self: buy a poodle skirt and loafers). Enough rambling...on to the shoot!

First stop was a family friend's home where Ben works during the summer--it was beautiful there!

One of Ben's jobs is to keep the scum off the pond--yum! :) He doesn't mind though, he is a hard working kid.

Well it's about time for a new post! It's been a bit crazy at our house and as my due date approaches, I'm learning I have to slow down and take it easy. So many thanks to Brad's mom, Sunny (who looks more like his sister than his Mom), for taking my place at work. With a quick orientation and lots of gusto, you'll do great! Just keep those docs in line and remind them that if they don't behave, I'll be back to harass them!

Wade-Senior Rep, Idaho Falls High School

Meet out senior rep for Idaho Falls High School--our first of three male senior reps. I-Jeramy have known Wade's family for about 5 years and I was excited (and a little shocked) when we found out Wade was going to be a Senior. We were both also excited when we found at that his dad (AKA Bubbles--sorry you know I had to throw that in there) was going to bring a red sports car along for the session. They were even kind enough to let us take the car for a short drive--I tried to put Shelley into early labor with my driving skills:)

We had a lot of fun with Wade and his family. He was polite and willing to do anything we asked him to do--maybe even sit in water. Hard to believe he is going to graduate this year. Best wishes Wade--you are a great person.

Remember Seniors if you are interested in a photo session with us, we will only be doing pictures through the middle of October, as our baby is due the first part of November, and if you schedule with us by September 15th, you get 24 free announcements.

So on with the session.

Wade could quite possibly be the next James Bond--at least he looks the part.

Then we went down to the river to find some water for Wade--we were surprised to find moer water than we normally do in the Sportmans Park area--it was cool and different.

What Wade? You wanna sit in the water with your suit coat on to take a few pictures---well, OK! I guess it was a little colder than expected--but what a good sport!

Moore Family Pictures

So what a nice weekend. It was great to relax and enjoy family today, so what better way to end it all but with a family pic post.

The Moore family was so much fun to shoot! Everyone laughed so hard! Let me show you why....

It started out to be such a nice, semi-quiet photoshoot

The kids were happy to be there :)

We found this cool wall next to a field with a THOUSAND grasshoppers!

Then something called "shakeface" entered the picture (note mom is a bit flabbergasted)

It was so special, it brought her to tears!

Winning Fair Pics

You asked to see them and here they are! We entered 7 pictures in the Eastern Idaho State Fair this year in the professional category and got ribbons for 2. Not bad for new-bies! A shout-out to KC Frames for doing a great job on the framing!

You might remember Brittanee--she is a High School Senior this year!

This is a little sneak peek from a wedding we did in August. This picture was snapped at Rose River Reception Center as Justin and Melissa were coming up a ramp from the dock. Their wedding turned out beautifully! It had a vintage theme and everything was just perfect. More to come soon!

Cousins

Take a look at this cute group of cousins! I had a Mom call and tell me that they had family in from out of town and that it had been ages since they all had a picture together, so we headed off to Sportsman's Park. Surprise! Part of the park was flooded and it made for a lot of fun....

It's not easy being the only boy! :)

We hear it all too often..."I hate my wedding pictures". The reasons range from having a bad hair day, to having a family member do the photography, or hiring the "best deal" for a photographer. It is amazing the number of people who tell us how much they wish their wedding pictures turned out better.

Research shows that a bride spends 10 to 30 percent of the wedding budget on photography. The pictures are a lasting memory of a very special day. We absolutely love our own wedding pictures and have made it a priority in our business for our clients to love theirs too.

With our own clients, we work with the couple before the wedding to carefully plan their special day. We love getting to know their personalities at the engagement session and encourage our clients to do their formals ahead of time. If the couple wants a more traditional arrangement, we encourage them to set aside at least 1 hour of time on the wedding day for pictures with just the two of them.

In the case of Rex and Cassie, their pictures were lost shortly after their wedding and the only pictures they have are ones that their friends and family took. You might recognize Rex and Cassie from our "Everybody Has a Story" promotion in June. We had so much fun then that they asked us to do some wedding formals for them.

For couples who are interested in a "Take 2" of their wedding pictures, we are happy to accommodate. Pricing for the session is about the same as an engagement and as with all of our packages, we include prints in the pricing.

These are our good friends and neighbors, Dan and Laura, and their boys. We headed off to the local skate park one Saturday morning for a bit of photo-fun.

We loved the bright colors they chose to wear against the cement.

OK I just had to post this one. It's every pregnant woman's dream to look this skinny at 5 months!

Both of the boys are accomplished musicians and stinking smart! I wonder what they will be when they grow up :)

My Cousin Melissa and Her Family

Lucky you--this is Jeramy again. I wanted to write this post since Melissa is my cousin.

Melissa and her family currently reside in California and when they came to visit for the summer, they were gracious enough to let us torture them for a family portrait session. The amazing thing about one of the locations that we shot at, was that it would not have been cool two days later. We found a field full of big milkweeds, and two days later a huge wind storm came through and the milkweed tops were all blown away--so good timing for us.

Well, I could tell you all about Melissa and us growing up together--let's see, there is the "Church Door" story---or the "No Bears are Out Tonight" story--but I will save Melissa some embarassment and tell you what a great cousin and person she is. We always got along well growing up, and now she has such a great family. How she is as a mother really reflects in her kids--these were three of the most polite cooperative kids. Her youngest boy has autism and their family is so good with him--they are all patient and kind. It was fun to wacth them interact.

We are excited to go to California this next week to see her and her family. Thanks Melissa, you guys were great!!

One of my favorite shots of the day--it was so cool to see them playing--big brother was always helpful to little brother. One of his favorite things to do was throw rocks into the water--so he helped him find lots of rocks to throw.

Senior Pics: Shyenne

Meet Shyenne! This lovely young lady is also a 2010 Senior Rep for Rigby High School.

Seniors, don't forget to book your session early! We will be done with shoots for the fall by mid-October because we've got a baby due in early November! :)

On to the sesh! It was SOOO much fun! Shyenne had such diverse outfit changes so each look could have been a session all by its self. We hung out downtown for an urban look and to make the most of our time.

I love capturing a moment when the camera is forgotten...

Shyenne loves to dance en pointe--which means dancing on your tip toes--aka torture. I tried it once when I wanted to grow up and be a ballerina...and lasted 2 whole seconds.

She is so graceful! It was a highlight of the shoot to watch her dance. :)

Josh & Jessi

Welcome back Josh and Jessi and their cute kids. This is a rare moment where I, Jeramy, am writing the post--so sit back and enjoy the ride.

I first met Josh, at church, right after he moved up to Idaho from New Mexico, probably within a week of him being here. We became good friends and had a lot of fun with the bachelor life, camping, staying up late and just doing whatever. We later became friends with Jessi when she started coming to our church also. After a while Josh and Jessi started dating and I really felt like they belonged together and was so happy to see them date and eventually get married. I was honored to be his best man at the wedding.

Josh moved up to Idaho to take an internship to learn to make crowns for teeth. After Josh and Jessi were married, Josh took a job in Boise. And now their cute family is off to New Mexico, where Josh will work with his dad at his dental lab, which he will eventually take over one day. It has been fun to see the start of their relationship and the start of their family--I always tease Jessi that she took away my camping buddy, but I couldn't be happier for the two of them. They are a lot of fun and we have a lot of laughs together--not to mention, they have two of the cutest kids!!

So, best wishes to Josh and Jessi as they move on--we are so glad we got the chance to do a session with them before they moved. We love you guys and can't wait until you come visit. And maybe when you are rich, you can fly us down to do a session at the White Sands!!

Meet two of our three Rigby High School Senior Reps for 2010--Brittannee and Hillaree! I work with their mom, Audra, and first met the girls a couple of years ago at the mall. When we met for the shoot, I couldn't believe how much they had grown up. :) They are both amazing and beautiful girls.

So what is The Cozy Tree? It is the official name of the clothing line we gave you a sneak peek of a couple of posts ago.

What A Great Experience!!!

Hey everyone,

Thanks for the amazing journey this last month with our project! It was a HUGE success and so much fun! We did a terrible job at advertising by only announcing it on our blog, so thanks to all the referrals by friends and family. It was so exciting to see the number of hits our blog got--over 1500--who knew?

We are already making plans for next summer's project and have a great idea in mind. With thanks again to Justin Hackworth for the inspiration, we will be donating that project to a particular charity that has affected both sides of our families. We don't want to give too much away, but it will be awesome!

For all you blog-stalkers, don't worry. We've got an exciting month with more family, Senior, and wedding pics lined up. In addition, I will be posting more pics from our June project. We did a lot of extended sessions with more great pics to share!

Everybody Has A Story - Day 20!! Retreat Day Spa: Featuring Rex & Cassie

OK so imagine this...being pampered at an amazing all-inclusive Day Spa complete with oh-so-relaxing MASSAGE, maybe-I-can-do-something-other-than-freckle TANNING, please-tame-this-crazy-hair-of-mine & can-I-get-a-pedicure-please SALON, and I-have-no-idea-where-to-start PERMANENT MAKEUP APPLICATION. *sigh* I could totally live there...

Back to reality! Meet Rex and Cassie, managers of the Retreat Day Spa located at 1489 South Curlew Drive in Ammon, Idaho (in case you out-of-towners are wondering). Give them a call at 208-523-5355!

Formerly known as La Petite Retreat, it was returned to it's original name of Retreat Day Spa due to its tongue-twister nature. :)

Check out how stinkin' cute this little airplane is! Perfect for the aspiring pilot and complete with pedals to make the wheels move. I tried to get Rex to sit in it, but I think his legs were too long!

While we were at it, we did a mini "We are still newlyweds" shoot!

So Rex and Cassie didn't exactly hit it off the first time they met. They met up at BYU-I and were assigned to work together. Rex actually ended up offending Cassie and when she called her Mom to vent, her Mom asked if Rex was cute. What???? Yup--Mom said that since they had to work together, Cassie had better learn to get along with him. Score one for Mom.

On their first date they went to Wingers and then bowling. Rex made up for offending Cassie by letting her beat him at bowling (never mind that his arm was in a cast)!

These two are so much fun! Rex is really laid back and Cassie is a firecracker! They had each other laughing and having fun the whole sesh.

We've been saving this location for Rex and Cassie. Rex is from Missouri and feels right at home in a field because he grew up on a farm.

Work it! :O) So much fun!!!

Home From the Honeymoon Teaser

In the meantime, let's welcome back Jeff and Lisa from their honeymoon! Looking trim and tan, we headed off to Rexburg for a fun shoot.

Lisa and Jeff are both fitness buffs! We had them climb up on this little ladder that was about 4 feet off the ground. Even though the posing was a bit awkward, it paid off!

They just bought this cute little red sports car. It is perfect for newlyweds!

Everybody Has a Story: Day 19 - Staker Floral

Walking into a floral shop is one of my favorite things. I love how it smells and feels--it's magical. In short, I love flowers. Always have--always will. By the way, this is obviously Shelley writing! :)

When Jer and I got married this last September, fresh flowers were at the top of the priority list (next to an amazing photographer!), so I paid Betsy Monson a visit at Staker Floral. We were so happy with our experience and the way the flowers turned out. We had pink roses, lime green orchids, and white freesia. They were gorgeous!

Here are a couple pics from our wedding. Thanks to the amazing and oh-so-talented-I-want-to-grow-up-and-be-just-like-you Amelia + Justin Lyon. Justin and Jer are cousins and when they came out from California to shoot our wedding, they went gaga over all the big bales of hay!

Betsy Monson is the owner of Staker Floral. She and her sister, Monica, worked their when they were younger. About 11 years ago, Betsy quit her job out at the Site and bought the flower shop. It was a great move for her and her family.

One of the nicest things about Staker Floral is that it's an everyday flower shop. Sure, they do an amazing job with weddings and funerals, but they give as much care to a single rose as they do a big bouquet. It doesn't matter if you spend $5 or $5,000--you will receive excellent customer service and a quality product.

Sometimes after I get the house all clean, I will go and buy a single flower from them. It's crazy how just one rose can brighten a room and make it smell so good! I've had flower last up to 2 weeks from there!

Betsy is great with supporting the community. I have seen flowers from Staker Floral donated to schools and at church events. She even gives gift certificates to the schools for Spirit Week or other events for boutonnieres and corsages.

These flowers are being prepared for a wedding.

Do you know those little orange fluffy things in the middle of a lily? They are removed because they are full of pollen that is notorious for staining what they touch. Just like when you were a kid and played that dandelion game and ended up with yellow all over your face.

Everybody Has A Story - Day 18: Dillon

This is one of those stories that is hard to tell because there are so many conflicting emotions that run through your head at the same time.

Sadness: This past February Dillon Halford was participating in snowmobile races in McCall, Idaho when he overshot a jump and fell 30 feet from his snow machine. Although he was wearing a helmet, he suffered a severe brain injury when he hit the left side of his head. Additionally, he fractured his left orbit (the bones that surround the eye), and dislocated his left shoulder.

He was transported by life flight from McCall to Saint Alphonsus in Boise where he spent 16 days in the ICU. In a coma, on a ventilator, and with a drain in his head (used to maintain the proper pressures in the brain), his parents were unsure of his future. The neurosurgeon who took care of him told his parents there was no certain diagnosis or timetable for if and when he might wake up.

Hope: He snapped. He snapped his fingers of his right hand and that was the first sign that he was emerging from his coma. It was his Mom, Paula, that saw it first. It was hope.

Admiration: It has been 4 months since his accident. Dillon's progress has been incredible. We got to meet him today and the first thing did was show off--imagine that, a teenage boy showing off. He's walking, talking, and this week he started riding his horse. It was so cool to see his Dad, Kent, helping him get up on his horse and Dillon being able to do most of it. He is determined and when he regains his full strength, I wish his parents good luck at keeping up with him.

Laughter: Head injury patients will often repeat the same phrase over and over. Dillon's fave today was "I don't care about that right now!". He was hilarious and had us laughing and smiling the whole time. He showed us his tracheostomy scar (from the breathing tube in his neck) and told us about his new birthday boots, that he is 15, his eyes are green, he likes his horse and she is soft. Oh, and that he has 5 girlfriends. :)

Exhaustion: Although his parents didn't say a word, I know that they must be exhausted. Without a doubt they have been through the physical and emotional wringer. While working in the ICU, I saw parents age in the matter of weeks. I admire their courage and tenacity.

Gratitude: Paula's employer, Family Dental in Idaho Falls, set up an account at Wells Fargo where people could make donations for Dillon. Thanks to the kindness and incredible generosity of friends, family, and strangers, Kent and Paula were able to spend a lot of time with their son while he was in the hospital. They wish to pass on their gratitude and wish they were able to thank the many anonymous donors.

Caring: So many people have helped the Halford family so much. If anyone is interested in helping, donations can be made at any Wells Fargo bank. The account is in Paula Halford's name. Also, donations can be made through caringbridge.org

We too want to find a way to help. We want to donate a photo session to help pay for Dillon's medical bills. We will hold a silent auction where bids can be emailed to us. In return, we will give the winner a free photo session and include prints. The session can be an engagement, a family session, kids, Senior portraits, grandparents--whatever. We are hoping to do this in conjunction with another fundraiser, so we will let you know the details as they unfold this summer. In the meantime, please pass this post on to spread the word.

Everybody Has A Story - Day 17: Nick & Lexie

So remember the guy that asked his girlfriend to marry him by hiding the ring in a Wendy's Frosty and then the girl swallowed it? The nurse in me wonders how many days exactly until she got her ring. Yucky!!

No, this isn't the "Wendy's" couple...it's the "Coldstone" couple. Haven't you heard? Well, let me tell you.

Nick & Lexie (or Lick and Nexie as I like to call them) LUV Coldstone ice cream. One night, Nick took Lexie to Coldstone and they ordered their faves: Birthday Cake Remix--hold the fudge and add extra sprinkles for her, and Cheesecake with raspberries and graham crackers for him. Nick "forgot" his wallet in the car, so Lexie ran out to get it. While she was gone, he asked the ice-cream maker dude to hide the ring in the ice cream. Lexie would find the ring and he would ask her to marry him on the spot--right?

Well, after Lexie ate almost all of her ice cream and the rest was melting, Nick started getting really nervous because NO RING! Happily, it was in the next bite. Lexie said, "Hey, someone put ice in my ice cream!", then realized it was a different kind of ice than she first thought.

So down on his knee, he asked her to marry him. She said yes. :)

These two are so stinking cute! We had so much fun and laughed a ton during the session.

Nick has mastered what I like to call "the soap opera star". Isn't he dreamy? Lexie is a gorgeous girl with an infectious laugh!

First conversation: 11th grade zoology class. They dissected frogs. Double yuck.

First date: Girls choice dance complete with mud volleyball that turned into Red Rover before the dance!

First kiss: at his house after walking her out to her car. It took him a couple months of dating before he finally had the guts to kiss her. :p

Everybody Has A Story - Day 16: Jeff & Melisa

This girl is going to be famous!

Meet Melisa (pronounced May-lisa) and her handsome hubby, Jeff. Melisa has quite the story of determination and passion.

Born in Argentina, she is the youngest of three children. She came to Idaho with her brother when she was 14 years old and stayed with the family of an LDS missionary she had met in Argentina. I can only imagine the challenges she faced during childhood. Her Mom died from ovarian cancer when Melisa was 7 years old and her Dad died from lung cancer 4 years later.

Melisa was soon calling the people she lived with "Mom & Dad" and formed a close bond with them and her new-found siblings. Her new parents started working on a way to help her become legal citizen. In the meantime, she took advantage of every educational opportunity possible because she didn't know how long she could stay in the States.

Despite the fact that she barely spoke English when she came to Idaho, she took AP (advanced placement) classes in High School so that she could get college credit. According to her Mom, everything that she did, she did well! It was because of her hard work that she earned enough scholarships to put herself through college. She just received her Bachelor Degree from Utah State University and is now heading to Normal, Illinois where she will attend Illinois State University to study drama, work on her Masters Degree and teach Undergraduate students.

On to the famous part...Melisa LOVES acting. It's funny because she is petite and so beautiful, yet she ends up playing a lot of male roles! For graduation, the college had her dress up and do a short skit. So while everyone else was walking around in their graduation digs, there was Melisa (completely unrecognizable) in character talking, moving, and acting like a homeless person. I would have loved to have seen that!!

Jeff and Melisa are adorable together. They are so affectionate and uninhibited. This was honestly one of the easiest photo shoots we've ever done. Jeff is so good to support Melisa's dreams. He is such a laid-back guy and according to Melisa's mom a "jack-of-all-trades". He plans on taking graphic design classes and fixing up a house they want to buy in Illinois.

Everybody Has a Story - Day 15: Nathan

This is kind of a long post, but please read it all--it is so important.

This is Nathan. He has a rotten, yucky, genetic disorder called Neimann-Pick Disease.

Nathan is one special kid. He has the best attitude and outlook on life. I've known him since the year before he was diagnosed, but we wanted to spotlight him on our blog because the world needs to know more about Neimann-Pick.

It started the summer between kindergarten and 1st grade. He was at the Pediatrician's office one day when the doctor noticed his stomach was bigger than it should be. As it turned out, Nathan had a spleen the size of a football!

Thanks to his spleen and Dr. O'Byrne, a general surgeon here in town, Nathan is alive and well today. Although his spleen was way, way, way, bigger than it should have been, Dr. O'Byrne knew it needed to stay in until a diagnosis was made. After $18,000 in lab bills, a week in the hospital, and a trip to Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake, a diagnosis was finally made. It was Neimann-Pick. Today Nathan was helping me remember the pieces to his story. He reminded me that it was the "bow and arrow" (translation: Bone Marrow biopsy) that solved the mystery.

We also talked about the time that Julia (my daughter and Nathan's friend) and I took him for a blood test at the hospital. He had just had some drawn that morning, but the lab called and said they needed more. His Mom and Dad were working, so Julia and I took him. Nathan was so brave!!! He just sat there patiently and didn't fuss. I couldn't believe it. In the 15 years I've worked in the medical field, I've never seen a kid be able to do that. Never!

Nathan has Type B Neimann-Pick Disease. It is caused by the deficiency of a specific enzyme, acid sphingomyelinase (ASM). This enzyme is found in special compartments within cells called lysosomes and is required to metabolize a lipid called sphingomyelin. If ASM is absent or not functioning properly, sphingomyelin cannot be metabolized properly and is accumulated within the cell, eventually causing cell death and the malfunction of major organ systems.

These are his sisters. Both girls are carriers for Neimann-Pick. Because it is a genetic disease, both parents must be carriers of the gene. It is VERY rare to be a carrier and unfortunately it isn't anything that is routinely tested for.

Nathan still has his spleen today. It acts like a filter for the "bad cells" and they get trapped in his spleen. If his spleen had been removed, those cells would have ended up in his lungs or brain.

Sadly, many children diagnosed with Neimann-Pick die. We are so glad that Nathan is doing well. He has stomach aches occasionally and can't play sports because his spleen might rupture. But hey, as Nathan says "I like to play with all the cute girls at recess". What could be better than that?

Their vision is a world where Niemann-Pick Disease is no longer a threat to a full and productive life for patients and their families. The foundation is selling bracelets to raise money for a cure. They are getting close! They are in the middle of trialing medication that will hopefully help those with the disease.

On the way home from our photo shoot, we stopped to get a snow cone. "Barbie" flavor for the girls and "Dragons blood" for Nathan--all a yummy mix of watermelon and passion fruit. The kids started telling me about what they want to be when they grow up.
Nathan: I'm going to be a cop!
Me: Oh yeah? Do you watch those cop shows on TV?
Nathan: Yeah, but my Mom doesn't let me :)
Little sister: I'm going to be a princess--like Tinkerbell!
Nathan: You should have Julia teach you how. She was a princess once. I'm pretty sure
Big sister: I'm going to be a child and family counselor

Everybody Has a Story - Day 14: Scott & Jodi

It's your classic 6th grade crush. Boy likes girl with really big cover-your-face-and-make-your-eyes-look-gigantic glasses but doesn't talk to her. Girl doesn't even know boy exists...

It's your classic Junior High crush. Boy still likes girl. Boy still doesn't talk to girl who has ditched the Professor Trelawney-like glasses. Girl still doesn't even know boy exists...

And on and on it goes to 12th grade when fate finally brought them together in the form of a girl's choice dance when her best friend asked out his best friend.

Yeah--so Jodi needed a tall date, and Scott fit the bill. She will willingly tell you how mean she was to him for an entire month after that first date. Granted, she had just gotten out of a bad relationship, but certainly she was testing his love. But hey, he was dedicated..after all, his affection had six whole years to grow while he admired her from afar.

Scott and Jodi are an adorable couple. They compliment each other in so many ways. I seriously don't think they ever fight and they are always so happy together. It is really amazing. We could all take a lesson from them. It must have been the magic glasses!

Jodi is one of our vendors. She offers our clients a 10% discount and part of our engagement package is a make-up session for the bride (do I really need to clarify that?) with Jodi. She does an incredible job with hair and make-up. Check out her work with Taylor and Janae.

Scott and Jeramy work together. He is such a good guy! Something "special" about Scott is his ability to talk and sleepwalk. Recently he got up in the middle of the night and put every stitch of winter clothing on complete with snowsuit, hat, and boots. Jodi woke up and found him looking out the window...."what are you doing?" "I'm going to shovel snow with a plow truck"! Hmm, maybe Jodi should sleep with his keys under her pillow. :)

We try not to shoot at the same location very often and we've been saving this spot just for Scott and Jodi! Know where it is???

Everybody Has a Story - Day 13: Mike & Charyn

The world really is a small place....

It's funny how friends find a way back into each other's lives after not seeing one another for a really long time. Jer and I were excited when our friend Jake, told us about a girl he worked with who was interested in our project. As it turns out, Charyn and I already knew each other but we didn't realize it at the time!

Charyn used to babysit for me when I lived in Blackfoot. She has an amazing family that I really miss! It was so good to see her again after so long and to meet her fiancé, Mike, and his son. What a cute family!

Mike and Charyn met while working together at Bingham Memorial Hospital. They are both nurses and became good friends. Friends led to an occasional date...then more dating...then to a proposal!

This spring, on a trip to Hawaii, Mike popped the question with a beautiful ring he picked out himself. He totally surprised Charyn--good job dude!

We loved what Mike and Charyn chose to wear--there is a little bit of aqua in Mike's shirt that matches Charyn's, but it isn't all matchy-match. Way to go....

It was raining on the way to the shoot, so we were pleasantly surprised that the weather cooperated!

Everybody Has a Story: Day 12-Justin & Melissa

This is our first of three engagement sessions for our photo project. We were hoping to get a few of these so we could find out how people met and how the man proposed to the woman. This was a really fun session to start off our engagements.

How many of you can think of a blind date that actually panned out into a solid relationship? Well, meet Justin and Melissa. Justin and Melissa had mutual friends that were going out one night and those friends brought along Justin and Melissa. Melissa was in no way looking for a boyfriend and was just enjoying being in high school. Well, apparently Justin had enough charm and good looks to make her think otherwise, and they started dating.........well here we are three years later, and they are now engaged to be married in August.

The greatest thing about their engagement story was that Justin had planned a big night out for them in Utah. He wanted to take her to Benihana's and have the cook do some fun stuff and then present her with the ring during all his little cooking tricks. Well needless to say, Justin was so excited to propose that he couldn't wait and actually proposed to her a couple of nights before their trip to Utah.

Justin and Melissa were so much fun--they are very easy-going, they have great style and we can not wait to shoot their wedding in August. What a great couple!! Thanks again--you guys were great.

Everybody Has a Story: Day 11 - Sarah & Lydia

What would you do if you were given a horse that was once worth $180,000? I would trade it in for a very, very, tame pony that would keep my dog company and let my kids ride it. Um...yeah. The person who leaves the best comment answering my question will win a $50 print credit. :) (We are looking for lots of witty and entertaining comments people!)

So meet Sarah and Lydia. They have been riding horses since they were 9 years old and have been riding competitively for the last 8 years. We had the opportunity to do a shoot with them this weekend at the barn they work at and meet their beautiful horses.

This is Lydia and her horse Patrick. Patrick is about 18 years old. He used to compete in Florida and won many competitions. Lydia is a competitive "hunter". Hunting involves being judged on the technique and aesthetics in riding. Basically, the better you look, the higher you score.

After his time in Florida, Patrick was put out to pasture because he was considered too old to compete. He apparently missed the competitions because he wouldn't eat and became very withdrawn. He was given to Lydia and she started training him again. Now, they are doing very well in competitions and have one coming up soon in Denver. Good luck!

This is Sarah and her horse, Lobo. Sarah is a "jumper". Jumping involves speed! I forgot to ask how fast she goes, but it must I bet this girl has got strong thigh muscles! She too has done well in her competitions.

I love Lobo's ears!

Have you guessed?...Sarah and Lydia are sisters...and fraternal twins! They are best friends and like many of the same things.

They practically live at the barn, but when they are not there, they like to read, sleep, and hang out with friends. They also love the beach and snowboarding.

They each have a dog that was born at the barn. They are so cute! You can barely see one of them here--the one in front of Sarah. It's sibling is bounding around somewhere like a little bunny.

Who'da thought these girls were camera shy?

They've got their Dad's laid-back personality and their Mom's dimples!

Everybody Has a Story - Day 10: Shontel

This post is dedicated to all the "mean girls" out there.

Junior High was not always the most fun years for many of us. Luckily for us, we can all look back on it and laugh—at least out loud.

Shontel found herself in one of those moments, that could be the most embarrassing thing that could ever happen. Shontel was a tall, skinny girl that often found herself the target of the school snobs.

To avoid some of the ridicule, Shontel usually waited until after all the other girls were done showering after gym class. Imagine her surprise when one day she got out of the shower to find her locker completely empty. With only a towel to cover her up, she set out to find her clothes. Much to her dismay, she located them outside the locker room door lying in the grass.

It would have been easy to just simply pick up the clothes and scurry back into the locker room and forget about what happened. Not on this day. The clothes were far enough from the door, that she couldn’t hold onto the door and grab the clothes. She had to walk far enough away from the door that it shut and locked behind her. Not only was she outside in just a towel, but there was another class awaiting her arrival in her terry-cloth ensemble. Shontel, with all her dignity, ran around the building and back into the nearest bathroom to ditch her unwanted towel-of-shame.

Despite what happened this day, Shontel grew up to be a beautiful and successful woman with happiness in her life.

Well this is proof that the nice girls really do win. So in real life, the mean girls may not get hit by a bus right before prom or grow up fat and ugly, but they certainly can end up with less joy in their lives.

May all the girls in that awkward stage in life look at Shontel and remember that it is what is inside that is as important as the out and eventually, it all comes together.

Everybody Has a Story - Day 9: Janson

Welcome home Janson!

Janson got home from an LDS mission in Taiwan just 2 1/2 weeks ago!

Of course, the first thing I wanted to know was what kind of interesting food he ate while he was there--apparently there are a lot of interesting things. For example, a duck egg that is just weeks away from hatching is boiled and served whole. Ick. According to Janson it's actually not too bad with a little salt, although one time he did get one with feathers. Ick. Ick.

Better yet is the egg that is soaked in horse urine for about a month and then boiled and served. Uber-ick. Janson didn't like that one so much. As Jeramy says, "Who actually comes up with these recipes?" Apparently someone creative and without taste buds.

His faves were the bread, sausage (both are sweeter than we have here), dumplings, and fruit.

Apart from the culinary experience, his mission was filled with wonderful people and experiences. An interesting one was named "Rosscamp"--everyone gives themselves English names. The problem was, nobody knew if that was one name or two. And the guy wouldn't tell them what his real name was because he said that he was a secret agent. So I'm wondering...if someone tells you they are a "secret agent", don't they have to kill you after telling you that?

If any of you went to Hillcrest, you probably remember that he was Student Body President. He will be attending BYU-I this fall and may run for student government there. He's majoring in business and would like to do something in international communications since he learned Mandarin Chinese on his mission. By the way (not that this is an on-line dating ad) Janson likes running, biking, hiking, and hanging out with friends. What a fun and super-cool dude...now on to the pics.

Everybody Has a Story - Day 8: KC Frames

Everybody Has a Story: Day 7-Henry

OK...so I know we were supposed to photograph only people that we didn't know for this project, but our story for today had to reschedule and I've been wanting to post this since Saturday, so I'm cheating. Besides, Jeramy seems to know everyone in this town and he's only met my Grandpa a couple of times since we got married--so it kinda counts--right?

This is my Grandpa, Henry. He lives in Utah and we got to visit him this weekend. When I was a kid my sister, Christy, and I got to spend a week with Grandpa and Grandma during the summer. It was SOOO much fun! We were spoiled rotten that week and we have many memories of spending time with them.

The smell of sawdust reminds me of Grandpa. He made his living as a church carpenter and built LDS churches all over Utah and Southeast Idaho. He had a great big workshop in his basement filled with all sorts of tools and we would make "flippers" or slingshots. Unfortunately, I'd only get to test my flipper out once or twice before hitting something (or someone) that I shouldn't. Let's just say that my aim isn't as good as my Dad's--who has been known to break windows from blocks away with his flipper--but that is another story.

I wish I could show you a picture of Grandma. She was an amazing lady. She died from colon cancer back in 1997 and we all miss her so much. Jessee learned to walk at her viewing. There was this big, glass table in the middle of the lobby of the funeral home and Jess toddled back and forth across that room and never once fell near that table. I think it was because Grandma was watching over her. :)

Grandma used to make us Barbie clothes galore. Christy and I used to play with them for hours. Grandma would make 2 of every outfit, usually one pink and one blue. We would make a big pile and take turns picking out the outfits we wanted while Steven (who was 2-years-old) threw all of our Barbie shoes down the heat vent. It usually ended in Christy and I dragging Steven out of our room and barricading the door with him sitting outside crying. That's what he got for throwing our shoes down the vent, and that's what we got for not letting him play something better than Barbies!

I asked Grandpa how he met Grandma. His sister, Leah, had a bunch of friends and Grandpa said that he picked the best out of the bunch. And yes, it was love at first sight. Love you Gramps!

Can't believe I still have these--too bad I don't have shoes to match :)

Everybody Has A Story - Day 6: Tiffany Rebbeca

Check this girl out: Tiffany Rebecca...she has a great eye and style.

Tiffany can't remember a time that she didn't love photography. Just last weekend when she was shooting her cousin's wedding, she had a 12-year-old cousin (whom she hadn't seen for quite a while) come up to her and ask her if she was a photographer, to which she replied "yes". The boy then said, "Oh good. I figured you were either a freak obsessed with taking pictures or the photographer!"

Although she has always loved photography, it wasn't until she ended up in the hospital with a rare blood disease that she decided she wanted to do something with her life that she loved. I can't imagine what she and her family went through that month she was in the hospital...and look at her now. She is so young and yet so accomplished. This girl will go far. So check out her blog and if you are lucky enough to meet her on the BYU-I campus, tell her "hi" from us!

Favorites: rain, rainboots (she collects them), ducks, and vanilla ice cream with fresh raspberries.

Happy Birthday Tribute

We want to wish Shelley's brother a Happy Birthday. We have not done this with any of our other family members, but most of them live close by and we get to celebrate with them sooner or later. Since Steven is so much further away, we want him to have a great day and know that we love and care about him-and maybe, just maybe you'll get those Bugles and Spirogrpah Plus!!

Steven is finishing up his final year in college and will be moving to California this summer for an internship and then he will have his PhD--what a great accomplishment. We are so happy for him and excited for what he has accomplished.

And not that we are keeping track, but he turns the big 3-0 today!! Love ya bro!!!

Everybody Has a Story: Day 5-Justin Hackworth-The Inspirer

We thought it would be most appropriate to showcase the person who gave us inspiration behind our project we are doing. Since we had to travel to Utah this weekend, we contacted Justin to see if we could meet with him and finally meet him in person and get a few shots of him. We were not disappointed.

Meet Justin Hackworth. We first learned about Justin when Jeramy's cousin tweeted about a photographer from Utah. Jeramy went online to his website and liked what he saw and then ran into a project he did last summer called "30 Strangers". Justin did the project again this year and also turned into a fund raiser to help the Center for Women and Children in Crisis, in Provo. If you have not seen this years or last years posts, follow the link. You will not be disappointed. He is also putting together a gallery display from this years' project July 2nd in Provo, UT. you can check his blog for more information. It will be worth your time.

Today we meet Justin for the first time--we have only talked with him through e-mails and we blog-stalk him:) As we were not disappointed with his work and his project, we were not disappointed with meeting him in person. Justin is a very laid-back, kind and fun-spirited person. Justin has always been very willing to talk to us about photography and help us out wherever he can. He even gave us some more inspiration today.

We both were a little nervous about taking his picture, but he made it better when Shelley pulled out the camera and he said that he was nervous about getting his picture taken, plus Shelley told him we would make him look like a rockstar.

Thanks again Justin. We look forward to working with you again and to seeing more of your work. Thanks for the inspiration and we hope you like the pics--you are a ROCKSTAR (and he touched our camera)!!!

Everybody Has a Story: Day 4-Kathryn

Talent is this girl's middle name! Meet Kathryn. A couple weekends ago, she took first place at Musician's West in Pocatello, ID. She competed in the top level (Advanced II) with Rachmaninov's Prelude No. 6 in E flat major. She played it for me today during the shoot and it was absolutely incredible.

Kathryn started taking piano lessons from her Mom at age 5. She began with the Suzuki method, which is based on playing by ear. She remembers her Dad waking her up early in the mornings so that he could practice with her before work. Kathryn is now a student of Mark Neiwirth and aspires to be a concert pianist.

I asked her which college she would go to if she had her pick, but it was too hard for her to choose. She would love to go to Juilliard, Manhattan School of Music, or The Curtis Institute of Music.

Along with playing the piano, she loves mint cookies & cream ice cream and hanging out with her friends. She is an all-around wonderful girl with more talent in her little pinkie than most people could ever dream to possess!

By the way, Kathryn is looking to expand her student load this summer. I recently got to hear some of her students play and they are good! As a former piano teacher, I would definitely recommend her. Everybody Has a Story: Day 3-Jenn & Her Yummy Cakes!

While we had our cameras out, we did a little family photo shoot. Hubby, Shaun, works with his family in construction. He's a whiz when it comes to drywall.

The beautiful Hailey, who was not camera shy in the least bit and was so much fun to do a session with.

Both Jenn and Shaun have a love for animals. They told us about their gerbel farm--which happened by mistake. Jennifer and her twin sister Jamie had pets growing up--and this story is a family favorite to tell.

One bird that they had was named Woodstock. Woodstock was not doing so well, so the girls were told that the bird needed to be put to sleep. Well their dad decided that he did not want to pay to have the bird put to sleep, so he set out with his own method of disposing of the bird. After he thought the bird was dead, he opened the box and much to his surprise the bird promptly sat up, looked at him and said "hello". Well, needless to say, the duty finally got done--but this is not the end of the story. Jenn and her sister had never heard this story until someone was telling it at a family party only a couple of years ago, and that is where the learned the fate of their beloved Woodstock.

Everybody Has a Story: Day 2-Jeff & Lisa

Our original shoot we had scheduled for today did not go through, and we tried to throw together another one, but it was too short notice, so we decided to post a wedding we did a couple of weeks ago--and Jeff and Lisa have a story to share.

Lisa works with Shelley and she asked Shelley if we could photograph their wedding. It was a beautiful, informal and intimate wedding. It was nice to go to a wedding that felt a little more stress-free than normal. Both Jeff and Lisa have children, so it was fun to see the dynamic of two families coming together, especially since the two of us have had that experience, and have had a good experience. It was so sweet to see Jeff's daughter, Dani, give Lisa a frame with pictures from the wedding that she hurried and printed after the ceremony.

Jeff and Lisa met in a gym in Rexburg (no surprise since they are both totally buff). Before Jeff and Lisa actually talked to each other, Lisa and her daughter, Jordan, started calling Jeff "that bodybuilder guy". One day Jordan went to the gym without her Mom and she and Jeff started talking. Well, that was Jeff's "in". The next time he saw Lisa at the gym, he asked her out. Jeff was so nervous and shy! Poor guy--Lisa had no idea how nervous he was and actually said she wasn't ready to date yet (she had just gotten out of a bad relationship). So Jeff said "let me know when you are ready to go out" and went home. He thought that what he said sounded so dumb that he drove back across town to the gym to clarify! Apparently it worked like a charm! According to Jeff, he asked Lisa out for 3 weeks before she finally accepted. Hmm...wonder what the real story is!

Everybody Has a Story:Day 1-Nikki

The first thing you will notice about Nikki are her amazingly blue eyes, but that is not what her story is about. This week Nikki will be graduating on Thursday from The American Institute of Medical Technology-but that is not the best part--she is graduating the top of her class--number one, in fact. She will be receiving her degree as a surgical scrub technician.

A scrub tech is the person who assists the doctor in surgery. They do things like pass instruments, hold retractors, and even helps with suturing. It is the scrub tech's responsibility to make sure that the surgeon has everything he/she needs during a case. Talk about pressure! :)

Nikki, however, is one girl who can handle the pressure! Her favorite cases are orthopedic cases which consist of things like shoulder and knee scopes, hip and knee replacements, and repair of broken bones.

Great job Nikki! And here she is.....

Lindsey: Hillcrest High School Senior Rep

This is our first 2010 Senior Rep--Lindsey from Hillcrest High School.

Despite how windy the day was (close to 35-45 mph winds)-Lindsey was a lot of fun and we got some amazing shots--of course it always helps when you have a beautiful subject.

I think Lindsey's dad will be happy that to go along with her beauty, she is also a great runner--Lindsey placed first in Districts in the mile and the two-mile giving her the opportunity to run at State--nice job Lindsey!!!

Lindsey plans on going to college to study Physical Therapy--(watch out dad, she is going to be rich too!)

Lindsey was a lot of fun and brought along two of her friends to make the session even more fun. Any seniors from Hillcrest High School who are interested in Senior Portraits can talk to Lindsey for more information.

Joe & Bonita Family

For those who do not know Joe & Bonita and their family, you are seriously missing out--this is one of the coolest and most fun families to hang out with. Many of you will recognize some of their kids from previous posts of sessions with did with them. We were thrilled when Joe and Bonita asked us to do their entire family. They asked us last Fall and they were finally able to get all of them together around Mother's Day. Jeramy has been friends with their family for several years, so it was fun and their were many laughs (one of which included a blonde wig on an un-named photographer--sorry no pictures since he was behind the camera-but the wig served its purpose).
It is always fun to see such a great legacy-especially since Joe and Bonita are soon celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary--what a remarkable milestone. So without further explanation here is the legacy of Joe and Bonita---we love you guys--thanks again for a fun photo session!!

Here's Taylor! A handsome Hillcrest Senior with some serious football talent! Not only was he on the State-Championship Hillcrest team this year, but he was also invited to play down at ISU this summer--way to go!

He also loves wakeboarding and boating--in fact, his Senior Project is on boating safety and he presents today, so good luck!

About the shoot: OK so it is common knowledge that guys especially love having their pictures taken. Taylor was such a good sport. We squished Senior pics, Missionary pics, and sports pics all into one session--that's a lot of smiling. Toward the end of the shoot, it was apparent that Taylor was getting tired (yet no complaints). So, to liven things up I started singing "He's a Ladies Man". The problem was, I couldn't remember all the words, so I said "I wish I could sing that song better" to which Jeramy replied, "I wish you could too". :) This was apparently really funny to both Taylor and Jeramy who started laughing hysterically. Hmm...boys. Oh well, it was worth it!

Hey all you basketball fans--I (Shelley) learned a new word..."lay up" (is it one word or two?). So apparently, when I was standing on top of the ladder saying "so run around and then make the ball go through this hoop thingy" I sounded like I didn't know much about basketball....and I don't. Thank goodness Christopher and his Mom know that even though I don't know anything about basketball, I can still shoot some wicked angles.

OK onto the real story. Meet Christopher. This is one good kid. He is kind, patient, talented, and has a super big heart. I've known him for about 5 years and I can't believe he is already graduating from High School. He plans on going to medical school and would like to be a brain surgeon--and he's got it in him for sure :P Just remember us when you're famous and all! You'll be one of those handsome Greys Anatomy guys.

Everybody has a Story

We decide to undertake a project for the summer when we read about another photographer in Utah (Justin Hackworth) that took pictures of different people in a one month period to expand his horizons as a photographer, he called his project “30 Strangers”. He just finished his project for the second year last week. We liked the concept of it and decided to adopt this project but with our own little spin. Our project is called "Everybody has a Story".

We want to photograph 20 different people in the month of June, one person for every week night of the week for four weeks (we decide not to shoot on weekends)—and we want to hear and know interesting stories—like “how did two people meet”, “how did you propose to your wife, or how did you get proposed to”, “what are your plans for after you graduate (not really a story yet, but it could make for an interesting story later)”, or whatever story you have in your life that is “award-winning” or has made for an interesting life.

So with that out of the way--here are rules to the project:
1) We can not know you-but perhaps maybe we met you once and we may not remember you—which in most settings would be upsetting, but in this one—hey you have a chance to get a great prize.
2) You have to e-mail us by May 20th and have an award-winning story (have we said “award-winning story” enough yet?) along with 2-3 dates you would be available.
3) You must be willing to travel to the Idaho Falls area-so go ahead and apply all you people in Blackfoot or Rexburg or Utah or wherever, if you feel like making the trip is worth it.
4) The photo session is limited to 3 people
5) You must be willing to let us share your story on our blog along with one of the pictures we took of you.
So it is that simple—so if you are interested simply e-mail us at mail@freckletonphotography.com, or call us at 208-705-7435 or 208-313-2637 if for some reason you do not have e-mail.

So what will you win? The ones we have deemed the winners will receive a photo shoot with us, along with a free 8x10 and a copy of a CD with the low resolutions file of the edited images on it—so you can post them on Facebook or your blog or whatever new and exciting website is out there, and tell everyone that you have an award-winning story.

We are excited to undertake this project and are hoping to meet some new and interesting people. So what are you waiting for—send us an e-mail or call us-you won’t want to miss out.

What could be lovlier than the old tire yard? Sara in the old tire yard! :P So why in the world would we take pictures there? Well, Sara wanted a dark background with bright clothes. Perfect match--and I must say, I've never seen tires look so glamourous (I know, I write like a girl--I throw like one too, just ask Jer)!

Sara is a Senior this year at IF. She is smart, fun, happy, hardworking, and beautiful to boot. Enjoy!

Meet the face of Freckleton Photography! :) When Jeramy and I were putting our website together, we chose this first picture of Janae to put on our entry page because we just love it.

Janae and her husband have been married for just over a year, but Janae wanted to do a session in her wedding dress and in the dress she wore to her wedding luncheon. So we braved the freezing cold (goose bumps and all) and were rewarded with a beautiful blue sky and gorgeous pictures! Special thanks to Jodi Reimer for awesome hair and makeup!

If you've visited our website, then you might recognize Taylor from our Senior Portrait section. Here she is one year later and holy cow! This girl belongs on the pages of Vogue! :) Taylor has a great sense of style--she brought all of her own outfits and accessories and I loved them all! The red patent leather heels, the handmade crocheted hat her friend made, the leather gloves, and the 80's dress coat, the vintage hairpiece--what a kick! I could go on and on...but here are the pics!

There are so many things I love about Chicago. The Bongo Room is the best place to go for brunch (can you say Lemon Raspberry Pancakes and Chocolate Stuffed French Toast?!), MoJo Spa as the yummiest handmade cosmetics and soaps, and Margie's is the place to be for late-night ice cream runs! But of all my faves, my most favorite thing in Chicago is my brother Steven!

Meet Steven and his cat Matou (named after the cafe Steven lives above)! This summer he will finish up his schooling...and hopefully his dissertation :) at DePaul University. Then it's off to LA for one final internship at Children's Hospital Orange County. Here are a few of our faves--luv ya bro!

Fun in Chicago

We just spent a couple of days with Shelleys' brother in Chicago. It was a fun visit and we did lots of cool things and saw lots of cool places. Here is a teaser picture from getting some night shots of the city. We were trying to do some cool shots and we thought this one was funny.
We also did a session with Shelley's brother that we will post later. Thanks again Steven--we had a lot of fun.

Blake: Off to Paris

Blake braved the cold weather with us one Saturday morning to get some shots before he left on a mission for the LDS church. Blake plans on having a farm of his own someday, so we thought this first location suited him well. This was our first photo session for a missionary, so we were excited and nervous about what to shoot, but we had some fun and got some great pictures. You will see frost on some of the pics--it was nice and chilly. Thanks Blake and we hope you have a fun and successful mission and hope you return home safely to your family.

Milestones for the Gurr Family

With kids turning 5 months-old and 2 years-old, the Gurr family braved the cold on a February afternoon for a family photo shoot. It was a fast-moving, action-packed session with lots of fun and giggles! Let's hope that the kids don't learn that jumping on the bed is an approved activity! Well--maybe only at Grandma's house!

We were so excited when a co-worker of Jeramy's asked us to take pictures of her grandparents--they were so amazing to get to know! Steve and Mary have been married for 60+ years. They met after WWII when Mary's brothers brought Steve home to work the family farm with them. Mary was engaged to someone else at the time but her family really, really liked Steve! The rest is history! It was such a delight to do a session with them in their home and hear stories about their life. Enjoy!

Here are a few teasers from our first sessions of the year. We will do full posts on each of them as we finish up editing them. What a great way to start off the year!

Danielle was one of the first to contact us for family portraits and we were so happy she did. They were a lot of fun and their kids are so cute.

From one extreme to the other: We were very excited about this session, and we knew it would be one that we would enjoy a lot. Steve and Mary were both so much fun and had so many fun stories to listen to. We can not wait to share more about them and the photos we were able to get of them.

Seniors are always so much fun! There is so much excitement and anticipation for the future. Parents are fun too. They often come along for the shoot and watch their "little" (or sometimes not-so-little) kids with amazment at how fast they have grown up. I sometimes get to sneak a shot or two with Mom and Dad! Congrats to all you amazing Seniors! Best wishes for an amazing future. :)

We thought we would start of the Best of 2008 with a post that we had a lot of fun shooting. Our friends found this location while out scouting and really wanted to do a session here. We thought it sounded cool and were excited to go shoot there. This has been one of our favorite locations and the day was beautiful despite how cold it was. The sky was gorgeous and our friends were a lot of fun to do a seesion with--and they all look great. They are a great family and had so much fun with them. This was also our first attempt with a wide angle lense--and we got some excellent shots.

We are excited to start sharing some of our photos we have taken over the past year. We are hoping to to reach out to more people in Southeastern Idaho---or even more places. We have had a fun time this last year taking pictures and hope we can meet new people and get our business up and running even more.

We have been inspired by our cousin and his wife: Justin and Amelia Lyon. They are amazing and even shot our wedding this summer. So as part of our insipiration from them, we will soon post our favorite "shots of the day" from the photo shoots we did this past year--so be sure to look for it very soon.
